The AURG with support from the HiCUB program is undertaking a tree planting day on Sunday 9 October 2011. We are hoping to plant about 1000 trees and shrubs. The site has already been prepared thanks to support funding from HiCUB so the day’s activities will include scraping back the mulch, make holes, plant trees and then stake and carton the trees.
Details as follows:
- Time: AURG members to start at 8.30am to help set up for the general public. The general public should arrive and start planting from 9am.
- Date: Sunday 9 September 2011.
- Location: The site can be accessed O’Dell St (south). Park near St Peters Pre-School and then walk over the foot bridge over Dumaresq Creek. There will be signage up on the day to help guide you to the location!
- What to bring: Planting equipment such as trowels and hand tools, knee pads etc. Of course please bring your own personal protection gear (gloves, hats, sturdy boots, sun screen etc).
A morning tea and lunch will be provided by the AURG for a gold coin donation. Please bring your own mug to help save the plastic!
All members of the AURG and the general community are encouraged to come along and help out.
There has been good publicity for this planting (Thanks to Ellen, Bea and Jo) with letter drops in the area, hopefully newspaper articles and mention on the radio. We will need as many experienced AURG’s to be there to help guide people with the plantings etc.
I look forward to seeing you all there.
Kind regards Angus Adair
