Come along to the next NERP forum to learn more about Platypus and Rakali in our district. Join us for a cup of tea and share stories about these beautiful water creatures.
- Date: Saturday, 29 June 2024
- Time: 2:00 – 4:00 pm
- Venue: Kent House, 141 Faulkner Street, Armidale, or join us on Zoom (Meeting ID: 848 2839 1811 Password: 273874).
We will have some knowledge holders on-hand to spark the discussion, including:
- Bruce Cohen – Bruce is a Traditional Owner from the Gumbaynggir, with ties to the Anaiwan and Thungutti Nations. He has over 30 years’ experience in health, justice and culture roles in government bodies and NGO’s in northern NSW.
- Sue Elliott – Sue is developing an early education school kit on Platypus and Rakali for Project NERP. She has been a leader in sustainability practices within early childhood education and care for over twenty-five years.
- Geoff Williams at the Australian Platypus Conservancy – which is working hard to unlock some of the key scientific mysteries which still surround Platypus and Rakali, and also conducts a wide range of conservation programs and environmental education initiatives.
At this forum, we hope to get enough interest for a Platypus & Rakali picnic somewhere close to Armidale in Spring this year.
