Waste Into Art Competition

The Northern Inland Regional Waste’s (NIRW) annual Waste Into Art and Design Competition is on again, and Armidale Dumaresq Council is calling on creative locals to turn trash into treasure.

Now in its thirteenth year, the competition celebrates the creativity and resourcefulness of the region and aims to inspire the community to consider the way that unwanted items or ‘waste’ can be re-used and recycled.

The competition is open to primary and secondary schools and the general public, with a special category this year to celebrate the Armidale Dumaresq Council’s Sesquicentenary.

Art works can be Art (2D/3D/Sculpture), Functional art (furniture/homeware/inventions), Textiles and Wearable Art, and Building or Elements of Building or Large Sculpture (photographic entries only).

All entries must incorporate the use of recycled or pre-loved materials. Prizes are offered at both the local and regional levels.

Closing date for entries is Thursday August 22nd, call Hayley Ward on {local land line prefix}0 3832. Or full details are available on Council’s Website – Waste into Art and Design Competition.
