Progressive Cinema: The Corporation

“The Corporation” is a documentary charting and exploring the rise of corporations since the mid 1880s, when, in the U.S.A., they were accorded legal rights of individual human beings.

The film documents the disproportionate power of corporations, how they have decimated our human and physical environment as they extend their control over human society. It provides chilling insight into the psychology of organisations.

While revealing the overwhelming power and insidious influence of expanding corporations, the film also shows how active, organised community movements offer hope.

“The Corporation” won an award at the Sundance Film Festival in 2004, and has been acclaimed by critics and reviewers.

Brent Simon wrote that “The Corporation” is ‘the most astute and flat out persuasive film of the new millennium’.

Chris Parry says, ‘this is the kind of film making that could, if seen on a large-scale, change the society we live in’.
To be screened by Armidale’s Progressive Cinema at the Armidale Club, 91 Beardy Street.
Note that the screening commences at 6:30 pm, earlier than usual.
Turntables Restaurant will be open for dinner from 6 pm.
