10,000 Trees – Campus Creek Cleanout

Hello all!

The next working bee is a team effort between UNE Landcare and the Armidale Urban Rivercare Group, to be held at the University of New England (map here). The planting will be the launch of the ‘10,000 Trees – Campus Creek Cleanout’ project, happening with the generous support of the UNE Facilities Management Services and the Federal Government’s Community Action Grant program. On Sunday the 11th of November we will be putting the first 1500 native grass, shrub and tree seedlings in the ground at UNE and would love to have you along to help. Dumaresq Creek at UNE has been a flurry of activity over the past 8 months, with in-stream and bank willows and poplars being removed by Bruce and Gordon. All of this amazing work has left us with a site ready for revegetating, and over the next six months UNEL is hoping to plant 10,000 trees along Dumaresq Ck from Elm Ave to the causeway at Robb College. The flyer for the event is attached.

Details as of the working bee as follows:

  • Time The general community 9am. AURG members from 8.30am to help set up.  The event will go to about 1pm.
  • Date Sunday 11 November 2012
  • Location  Dumaresq Ck on the UNE campus. Site is right next to the ‘Goat Track’, to the west of Elm Avenue and south of the creek (map here).

Please bring your own gloves and a trowel. Keep an eye out for the AURG article in the Armidale Independent in the week before, and please spread the word.

Cheers

Ellen
