The complex question of agriculture and climate change is the topic under discussion at the next Tuesday Forum in Sustainable Living Armidale’s ever popular monthly series.
Speaking on the topic of “Climate change and emissions trading: the role of agriculture” will be Professor Annette Cowie, inaugural director of the National Centre for Rural Greenhouse Gas Research here in Armidale. Professor Cowie leads the NSW component of the National Soil Carbon Research Program, and conducts research into climate change impacts of carbon sequestration, bioenergy and biochar systems.
The National Centre for Rural Greenhouse Gas Research is a joint venture between the NSW Government and the University of New England, and its current research projects focus upon reducing emissions from agriculture, sequestering carbon in soils and developing next generation biofuels.
