Australian Youth Climate Coalition rally in Brisbane this Saturday

Our vision for a safe climate future is under attack from a scare campaign, led by Tony Abbott.

Tony Abbott is calling for a “people’s revolt” against action on climate change. He’s banded together with climate deniers and scaremongers to organise anti-climate action rallies. They’ve been in Melbourne, Perth and Canberra, and the next one will be in Brisbane.

Will you come with us next Saturday, 9 April, to King George Square to show our support for a price on pollution?

Abbott and the angry protesters are trying to convince politicians and the media that the public does not support strong action on climate change. They think that jumping up and down, stomping their feet and shouting misinformation is going to distract decision makers from the reality that Australians support strong action on climate change.

It’s time for us to come together next Saturday morning, 9 April, to show Brisbane the truth: most people support a clean energy future. Through our positive celebration on Saturday we’ll show that we’re bigger, classier, cooler, and calmer than those spreading misinformation.

Where: King George Square, outside Brisbane City Hall

When: Next Saturday, 9 April at 11am

RSVP: RSVP here!

By coming together to show our support for climate action, we can silence the anti-climate action rallies. We can deal a fatal blow to Tony Abbott’s claims of a “people’s revolt” against climate action. We can show the media and climate deniers just how big and strong the campaign for climate action is.

For most of us it will be our first ‘rally’ and we’re not interested in shouting into megaphones or marching through the city. Instead, we’ll hear from a couple of speakers and celebrate our movement for a clean energy future in a positive way.

So RSVP now!

See you on next Saturday,

Ellen, Sean, Kirsty, Claire, Fabia, Glen and the AYCC movement.

P.S. Get your creative juices flowing and bring with your brightest, funkiest home-made posters and banners (and don’t forget to share them on our Facebook page)
