The First SLA forum for 2019 is on Thursday, 7 February at 7pm at Kent House, opposite Central Park on Faulkner Street. We are fortunate in two ways, Council has finally appointed a new Sustainability officer, Sally Thorsteinsson and she has agreed to come an speak about her role and some of the projects she is initiating.
Working towards environmental sustainability is a large portfolio, and as part of this council is focussing on climate change adaptation, improving air quality, conserving biodiversity, facilitating sustainable transport options, improving energy efficiency and supporting the development of renewable energy resources and projects. A significant part of Sally’s role is communicating and engaging with the community, government agencies and other organisations and groups to progress environmental sustainability projects that will benefit the region.
For a dozen years SLA has been concerned with the very issues Sally is grappling with. So She will leave plenty of time for discussion and for suggestions from the participants. Sustainable practices affect us all.
Everyone is welcome. The talk and discussion will be followed by a delicious light supper. A gold coin donation is appreciated.
