Join the kids making history to stop climate damage #ClimateStrike

Friday, 15 Mar
9:00 amto2:00 pm

Students, parents, teachers and university student are welcome. To everyone who cares about a safe climate future, this is your open invite to join our School Strike 4 Climate on March 15 – students standing up when our politicians won’t.

On Friday 15 March, thousands of kids across Australia will strike from school to demand our government take urgent action to stop climate damage.

They’re part of a global movement of young people speaking truth to power and showing what’s at stake if we keep digging up and burning fossil fuels.

And they’re asking all of us to join them.

  • When: March 15, 2019 — 9am–2pm

RSVP — School Strike 4 Climate — Armidale

This month alone over 50,000 students have striked in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland. At the last Australian strike in November, 15,000 kids left school to gather in 30 locations across the country.

On Friday 15 March, the kids are asking all of us – kids, adults and everyone in between – to join them. Will you be there?

  • I am a great advocate of all things sustainable

Does Sustainable Living Armidale support the reinstatement of the railways across NSW. There are several community campaigns happening at the moment to make this happen

I am part of the Northern Rivers Rail Action Group who wants the reinstatement of the rail from Casino to Murwillumbah (then extend it to the gold coast).

We currently have a petition with 6,700 signatures which will be presented to candidates for the NSW state election

    Hi Ian,

This comment seems irrelevant to this specific story. Sustainable Living Armidale does not have a position on unused railway use but has in the past held a forum on the local railway corridor. From that forum people felt that a use of the corridor and therefore economic benefit was better than no use at all.

    All the best

The advertising for the #Climate Strike says 9 to 2, 9 to 2.30 and 9 to 11. Does anyone know what time it finishes? If it is 9-2, what are they planning to do for 5 hours? I dont really want to leave my son there for 5 hours but he doesn’t want to miss the most important parts.

For this particular event — I don’t think you can expect a tightly run affair because I believe the organisers are new to doing something like this.
Just confirming from the Facebook Event — 9am to 2pm at Armidale Central Park.
