By now many of you are aware that Vickery Forest, between Boggabri and Gunnedah, is next in Whitehaven Coal’s targets, if not read this article: Whitehaven Coal proposes to ramp up mining and increase mine foot print near the Namoi River for its Vickery coal project in the Namoi Valley Independent.
The Leard Forest Research Node is planning a field trip on weekend of 6-7 August to Vickery Forest.
The proposed development could result in another open cut as large as Maules Creek, once you add all of the mining leases and exploration licence adjacent.
The open cut pit will be less than 500m from the Namoi River.
Details to follow. We might be based at Wando, or depending on weather camp out, or possibly stay in a local cottage belonging to local farmer.
