Are koalas functionally extinct?

The discussion began with a media release from the Australian Koala Foundation.

LifeGate responded with  ‘Koalas are functionally extinct’ by Lorenzo Brenna, published 21 May

and The New Scientist replied with ‘No Koalas are not ‘functionally extinct’ but they are in trouble’

SLA’s Wildlife Habitat Group is protecting koalas and extending habitat in our Region.
