At the beginning of its July monthly forum (this year to be held on Thursday 5 July 2012), Sustainable Living Armidale holds its Annual General Meeting. It is an opportunity for members and interested persons to become further involved with SLA. The positions of President, Secretary and Treasurer are made vacant and anyone can nominate for a position.
Also on the Coordinating Committee are the convenors of the Sustainable Living Armidale action groups. Action groups exist to facilitate and encourage groups of people to come together to promote some aspect of local sustainability. Any three members of Sustainable Living Armidale can establish an action group. They may be created to undertake a specific action and then disband or they may be ongoing.
The Coordinating Committee meets monthly to consider reports from the action groups; to plan for upcoming monthly forums – the group’s centrepiece activity on the first Thursday of each month at Kent House; and to plan other activities.
The philosophy of Sustainable Living Armidale is one of inclusion and encouragement. Annual membership is $10 per year, and this is encouraged, as fewer than 15% of people on our email list are currently financial members.

Convenors for each action group are nominated by the group before the AGM, which then endorses those nominations. Should anyone wish to join a group and/or convene it, please send an email to slacc@slarmidale.org – which is the email address of the Sustainable Living Armidale Coordinating Committee.

Please come to the AGM at the Thursday Forum on July 5th at 7pm, which will be followed by a Forum that will present Good News stories of local sustainability from around the world, with multiple presenters, plus supper.

Hi slacc team and SLAMers,
I suggest that a few days before the AGM you SLAM out a reminder but this time focus on the topic of Good News stories so people don’t think it is just an AGM or have to click on the link and read to the bottom to find what follows the AGM. You were probably going to do this anyway. Good that you did give us all due notice of the AGM in recent SLAM. I look forward to the Good News.
