Armidale’s Sustainable Living Expo (SLEX) is on October 21,22,23 in the Creeklands.
There’s a meeting to start organising our SLA display for SLEX to be held on Tuesday 23rd August at 4pm at 163 Barney Street. So come along and join in the early planning, get the October dates in your diary – we’ll need lots of help to design our display, to set up in advance, and to staff the display for the three days.
It’s already agreed that we will do the mini-cinema again with a range of films to inform, inspire and entertain.
Our main focus will be on activities and inspiration around re-using so-called ‘junk’ for practical and/or amusing constructions.
Early thinking suggests that there are lots of Armidale people who’ve invented a useful object from thrown-out materials, so can we have a display of these?
We’re thinking of having some ‘resources’ on site and encouraging people to make things at the Expo. And special kids’ challenges. We’ll be located close to HiCUB, Landcare and Council and will coordinate with them and with EdFest.
So please come along on Tuesday and offer your ideas. This is a great opportunity for SLA to showcase our organisation, and also to create a hands-on event where lots of members can take part and have a good time too.
The more people in at the planning stage, the better the ideas.
See you there.
