Art Exhibition – CONSUMED 6pm this Saturday

consumedThe Armidale Art Gallery presents

Works by Carmel Devine • Jim Ridgewell • Charlotte Tonn

Carmel Devine

In this exhibition I tap into most of my skills developed from 15 years experience in the film industry where I created special effects for major films and my own long standing haute couture custom design clothing business in Sydney.

Topics of my sculptural pieces vary from  being consumed by family dynamics, mothering, media and society addictions. Many pieces are made with the cooperation of the community donating time or goods to support my statements.

I make sculptures to jolt complacency, I feel great relief, freeing my mind of images that won’t leave me until they are realised.

I am finally free from being consumed.

Charlotte Tonn

The pieces for this exhibition are an ensemble of eclectic expressive mixed media and photography. Many pieces are inspired by the consumerism juxtaposing local flora and landscapes while others are far more intimate close ups admiring body shapes and shades.

The desire is not to be “labelled” but to express and capture beauty. The art represents another side of oneself needing to be free.

Charlotte Tonn is a registered business name for artists wishing to create autonomously.

Exhibition Dates 2/2-1/3/2013 • Opening Night 6-8 Saturday 2nd February 2013 • 168 Beardy St (East Mall) Armidale Gallery • Hours Mon-Fri 10-5 Sat 10-1
