Celebrate Armidale’s Rooftop Solar

Armidale rooftop solar

100% Renewable Energy  is kicking off this year with ‘nationwide Summer Solar BBQ on February 24th. The emphasis is on all the rooftop solar panels households and businesses have installed in the past few years.  It would be wonderful if SLA member’s participated.   http://www.100percent.org.au/content/summer-solar-bbq-registration

Across Australia there has been a solar revolution with over 1.5 million houses with solar on their roof. This has helped create  thousands of new jobs and seen the price of solar panels fall substantially.  Many Armidale households have been part of this transformation to renewable energy, producing hundreds of kilowatts of energy .

There are at least two possible models for the BBQ:

  1. individual households invite a few friends and have a BBQ. If this is what people choose,  ideally there will be many BBQs throughout the city and surroundings dedicated to marking this
  2. SLA organise a public BBQ somewhere like the Creeklands or Dumaresq Dam
