The 2024 People’s Blockade of the World’s Largest Coal Port is rapidly approaching, and all around the country we’re busy spreading the word and preparing for this historic event.

Kayaks and Pontoons
This November, we’ll be blockading coal exports from the world’s largest coal port for an unprecedented 50 hours! For two full days and two nights we’ll have a massive flotilla of hundreds of people on kayaks, pontoons, tinnies, surfboards and inflatable unicorns.
To pull it off, we need MANY kayaks! A few weeks ago we got a truckload of 150 inflatable kayaks delivered with more to come! So there’ll be plenty to share if you can’t bring your own.
The protest camp
We’re expecting thousands of people to camp at our protest camp in the beautiful park right behind Horseshoe beach. It will be like a mini village with toilets, kitchens and big marquees for all our different needs. The camp is going to be fun, festive and massive, so if you can, camp with us: the more the merrier!
Food
Feeding thousands of people for 10 days is no small task!
To tackle this huge job, we’re forming 10+ incredible volunteer food teams, who’ll cook delicious meals for us at the blockade. Many meals are included in your registration; all meals will be vegan and gluten free! Plus, during the big weekend protestival (Fri 2nd-Sun 24th) we’ll have 10 vegetarian food trucks that you can purchase food from.
The Canberra Wave
In Canberra, a strong team of volunteers is growing, focused on organising the last three days of our mobilisation: the Canberra Wave! They’re getting ready for the massive influx of people who will descend upon Canberra for the last three sitting days of Parliament of the year to demand that Albo answers: “when will you stop approving new coal & gas?”. You don’t need to have come to the Blockade to join the Canberra Wave.

Rising Tide is run on volunteers, and pulling off an event of this scale requires the commitment of hundreds of people! From helping spread the word, to chopping carrots for dinner during the blockade, there are so many ways that you can help.
