15-year-old launches petition to Combat Plastic Pollution

My name is Lachlan, and I am a 15-year-old dedicated to fighting plastic pollution. I am reaching out to you today to seek your support with my petition ‘Reduce Plastic Pollution in NSW‘. This petition is advocating for the ban of single-use plastic coffee cups and lids, heavy-weight plastic checkout bags, plastic produce bags, plastic takeaway containers, and plastic bread bag clips, to reduce plastic pollution in NSW. I believe that the environment is of great importance to you as it is to me, and our future generations.

In light of our shared commitment to environmental protection and sustainability, I kindly request your support in signing and promoting my petition titled “Reduce Plastic Pollution in NSW”. This petition can be found on the Parliament of NSW website, under open e-petitions. This petition aims to not only help to reduce plastic pollution, but to help protect the environment and ensure its longevity. I am also proud to share that my petition has received support from my Local NSW Member of Parliament and Member for Wagga Wagga, Dr. Joe McGirr.

I believe that with the collective efforts of local environmental organisations such as yours, we can make a significant impact and bring about the necessary changes. Your endorsement and promotion within your local community would be invaluable to my cause. In order to get my petition to go to debate in the NSW Parliament I need a minimum of 20,000 signatures and your help would go a long way to help me achieve this goal.

To sign the petition, please visit; LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY – ePetitions open for signature (nsw.gov.au)

I would be grateful if you could:

  1. Sign the petition to show your support.
  2. Share the petition with your members, supporters, and social media followers.
  3. Promote the petition through your newsletters, websites, and any other communication channels.

Thank you very much for considering my request. Your support would mean a great deal to me and to the future of our environment and future generations. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or require further information.

Kind Regards,

Lachlan Mitchell
