Watch this short video of Pat Schultz telling her perspective on the Styx forests, recently made by Flynn O’Hallahan.
Sunday 23 June: visit a section of Styx River State Forest that has not been logged for some decades and is home to Greater Gliders and other wildlife. Lynne Hosking will lead an easy walk along forestry trails to see some of the lovely tall trees and tree ferns. Armidale branch of NPA and other local people included this area in the proposal that resulted in creation of Cunnawarra National Park, but the Government left this area out. See if you think it should be protected now instead of logged.
Please bring your lunch and nibbles, drink, a raincoat, warm clothes and boots or sturdy shoes The return trip is 140km so at 50c/km (average vehicle costs as well as petrol) that will be $35 per person if only 2 in the car or $17.50 if you turn out to be 1 of 4 people in a car: please bring cash to pay the driver if you might want a lift.
