Rally for the Styx River and Forest a success

Over 50 people gathered for the Save our Styx River and Forest in the Judith Wright Grove, Civic Park Armidale on Sunday 13 August 2023 as part of the Bob Brown Foundation 3 days of action for the Giants.

Bea Bleile, in acknowledging Country, observed the care, understanding and ecologically sustainable practice which Traditional Custodians had brought to their custodianship of the country.

Lynne Hosking, from Armidale’s National Parks Association branch, outlined the reasons that logging our native forests is no longer tenable and described past and ongoing actions to protect our forests.

Elizabeth O’Hara outlined the motion adopted by the Conference of Local Government Organisations last year which calls on the NSW State Government to develop a plan for the just transition to ecologically sustainable plantations.

The Firebirds brought their harmonies to endorse caring for country, seeking Peace and valuing Home.
