Climate Strike Armidale! #SchoolStrike4Climate #ClimateActionNOW

Friday, 6 May
10:00 amto2:00 pm

Come to the Climate Strike this Friday May 6th at Curtis Park starting 10:00am sharp for Welcome.

Everyone is welcome, Everyone is needed…. The School Strikers are calling on all people of all ages to come and support this event and support their future.

After a Welcome, speeches and some chanting practice the climate action walk will head off at 10:30 .. bring your handmade signs and messages, bring as many people as you can, Climate Action Now signs will be available. The March will return to the park around 11:15 followed by supporting talks, music and an open Mic for expressions of concern and calls to action.

The strike has been convened by 15-year-old schoolgirl Arlie Bragg.

Fellow Armidale school student Anna Gooley will address the crowd, along with parent, Amy Ashman, who will talk about how climate change is affecting her family.

This coming election is a tipping point for the future of not only Australia but the world.  However as we all know people under 18 are not allowed to vote.  Help raise their voice to all politicians – Federal, State and Local .

Support our local School Strikers the next generation and all of our community in calling for Climate Action Now.

We need a national strategy, fossil fuel emissions reductions of 50-75%  by 2030, 100% by 2035 a just transition for coal and gas miners, a valuing of indigenous knowledge and connection to Country, a renewable energy economy, inbuilt support for people in the face of extreme weather events, prioritization of people and sound jobs before boardroom profit and support for our ever decreasing biodiversity as well as our food security through regenerative land and water management practices. Together We Can.

Come along and support this call to action!
