The New England Northwest Biodiversity Alliance (NENW Biodiversity Alliance) is designed to be a collection of Partners with a common objective: to preserve and enhance biodiversity. The NENW Biodiversity Alliance is an example of a regional partnership, made up of local, regional and state bodies, which will collaborate to improve habitat connectivity in ‘priority connectivity landscapes’. There are a series of similar Alliances which have formed and joined the Great Eastern Ranges Initiative, a 3700km corridor from Victoria to N Queensland.
The NENW Biodiversity Alliance extends from Ebor in the east to Lightning Ridge in the west, south to include Liverpool Plains Shire Council and north to the Queensland border… over 120,000 square km.
Euan Belson is keen to present these aspects of the initiative:
- What is driving the need for an Alliance?
- Who is involved?
- How it will go about bringing change – what change?
- Is there a stake for SLA?
SLA anticipates Euan’s talk will attract a diverse audience and generate lively discussion. Everyone is welcome.
Humanitree, Kate Hannan’s beautiful sculpture fund-raiser for Leard and Pilliga forest protection will be drawn too.
The forum, like all SLA forums, will be held at Kent House (Faulkner street opposite Central Park) at 7pm on Thursday, August 3rd. Talk and discussion will be followed by a light supper and a chance to converse informally. Gold coin donations are appreciated to cover the venue costs.
