Picture of hacked tree in Rusden St

I am so tired of the appalling pruning in the name of keeping the overhead wires free from vegetation.  Essential Energy has been butchering the trees in Armidale and as an example I send you a picture taken in Rusden St today.  I have 14 others from various places.

The Council has tried to get the contractors to prune the trees with some sort of respect and sympathy for the form and shape of the trees.  But, I can tell you because I have seen it, they just hack into the trees and take out the centre of flatten the top and lop the branches.  I wrote to Essential Energy today and put a comment on their facebook about my opinion of this desecration. Should you be in agreement perhaps you can put something on facebook too.  These trees provide – well most of them – the lovely autumn colours that Armidale is famous for and I see no reason why the community’s wishes as to their treatment be ignored.
