Large supermarkets and corporations have a stranglehold on our food system and those at the bottom of the chain, farmers and the community, are losing out. The Open Food Network will turn the food industry on its head with an online, open source and not-for-profit marketplace that will make it easy to find, buy and sell sustainable local food. With the funds from their crowdfunding campaign, Open Food Network will develop an online platform to connect local sustainable sellers with the community. While Open Food Network will begin in Australia, they plan to create a model which will be accessible to communities across the world.
