Community Owned Solar in Manilla

NEEF-logo-squareOn Saturday, we’ll have our very first meeting to explain the details of the community-owned solar farm. The close knit community of Manilla could create Australia’s first community owned solar farm.

It is an opportunity for you to be part of a positive project  to ensure renewable energy is part of our future.

The community-owned model installs solar panel arrays across multiple sites for businesses with large electricity usage. The total size of the solar farm can be as large as 150kw or more, matched to actual usage of electricity.

The business benefits of community-owned solar include positive marketing opportunities and a guaranteed energy source at a fixed rate – lower than commercial coal power.

The investment required up-front in the solar farm is covered by local investors – one share per person which provides a return at higher than bank interest.

This investment model means it’s a win-win situation for all involved.

We’ll be keeping local money in the local area, allowing local operators to keep their ever increasing energy costs down and making the shift to sustainable energy – as a community.
