We will be holding a field demonstration/experience of treepaste production and application along with an observation of various composting practices.
Biodynamic Field Morning in Armidale
Sunday 28 July, 2013 at 10am
Tree pasting is an important biodynamic practice which involves application of a nourishing, protective coating onto the bark of trees. According to Rudolf Steiner, “The trunk of a tree can be likened to an elongated mound of earth upon which plants (leaves and branches) grow”. When applied to the bark of fruit trees, vines, roses etc. during winter,

affords protection from fungal & insect attack, nourishes the bark & cambium and heals cracks & pruning wounds.
We will be making a batch of treepaste from the raw ingredients, i.e. cow manure, clay, diatomaceous earth & sulphur, which we will then apply to fruit trees and a vine or two. Batches of paste will be available for purchase on the day so bring along a small sealed container if you wish to take some home.
You will also have an opportunity to inspect a variety of composting arrangements and take part in the addition of biodynamic compost preparation balls to a recently constructed heap.
The workshops are hands on so wear work clothes, bring along gloves & a small paint brush (2-4 inches wide) or hearth brush.
We will start with a cuppa, cake and discussion at 10am. A $5 donation toward costs would be appreciated.
