Location: Within Federal electorate of New England –preferably Tamworth or Armidale.
Remuneration: Negotiable depending on experience (min $30/hour)
Type of employment: Part time (hours negotiable), 5-month contract.
Start: As soon as possible.

 

100% Renewable is Australia’s leading community organising campaign for renewable energy. Working with local communities around Australia we build public and political support for renewable energy and run campaigns that will move our country towards an entirely renewable energy future. This election year will be an important one for renewable energy in Australia, with a fast moving environment and strong community interest. We are looking for an enthusiastic local community organiser to coordinate 100% Renewable’s 2013 election campaign activities in the New England electorate.
This role will be ideal for someone who is looking for a chance to learn and practice community organising skills with training opportunities and support provided. The Community Organiser’s responsibilities will be to coordinate the campaign’s organising efforts in New England through:

  • Coordinating and supporting local organisations and volunteers to engage in renewable energy       campaigning.
  • Working with the national team to help develop a local campaign strategyand overseeing the delivery of the tactics set out in that strategy.
  • Organising local events and coordinating media liaison.
  • Developing materials to support local campaign activities.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key campaign allies.

 

Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:

  • Experience working in community groups and running grassroots
  • campaign activities and events.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate others through
  • face-to-face, phone and online engagement.
  • Familiarity with key issues faced by voters in the New England electorate.
  • Networks among existing and potential volunteers for renewable energy
  • campaigning in the New England electorate.
  • High levels of organisational skills, with a willingness to learn new skills.
  • A passionate commitment to building Australia’s renewable energy future.
  • The role will report to, and receive support from, the Organising Program
  • Coordinator.

This is an ideal opportunity for a passionate renewable energy advocate to work at the grassroots level to make a significant difference in a key electorate in Australia’s upcoming Federal election.
