Massive tree planting last Sunday broke all records

Sunday, 14 Oct
9:00 am

For all who missed today massive tree planting and Mental Health Month celebrations here are some stats for the day.  We planted 2622 plants today and we had 202 people register on our sheets for the day.  Having been in the AURG for almost all our working bees over the last 10 years I think we have just broken pretty much ever AURG record with today’s efforts!!!!!!!!!!!

I would just like to pass on a couple of specific thanks for the day.

A huge thanks to all those in the NSW Health sector.  Thank you for thinking of using the AURG for this event and thank you for all the hard work that you have put into making the day so HUGE!!!!  Specifically I would like to thank NSW Health, Tablelands Mental Health Service, New England Medicare Local, Richmond PRA, Carers Assist (Schizophrenia Fellowship NSW) and all the groups from UNE.  A huge thanks to Celia, Brooke and Emily – your legends!

I would also like to extend a very big thank you to the Armidale Dumaresq Lions Club for their wonderful catering on the day.  They fed a lot of mouths today and did a wonderful job for all of us.  Many thanks.

Armidale Dumaresq Council also provided significant support in the provision of a massive amount of mulch, access to toilets and the provision of bins for the day – a big thank you.

Southern New England Landcare also provided a large amount of funding for the day when AURG and other funds fell short.  Thank you so very much SNELCC and particularly Ellen Nyberg for all your organising and support for the day.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say a VERY big thank you to all those AURG volunteers who put some much time and effort into preparing the site for today’s planting and also preparing the trees for the event.  For fear of missing someone I won’t name them all but I know a lot of people have done a lot of work preparing for today, thank you so very much for all your huge efforts.  I think today just goes to show the rewards of hard work, great weather and a wonderful Armidale community.  Again a huge thank you.
