Inspire us this Forum: Armidale 2025

Thursday, 6 Sep
7:00 pm

At our next monthly forum on 6 Sep, we want you to share your ideas and inspiration in response to the question “What do we want Armidale communty to look like in 2025?” … and how do you seeSLA taking us there?

To help us along, we will be looking at the Transition model which inspired the second half of our full title, which is “Sustainable Living Armidale – A Transition Initiative”.  Transition Initiatives now form an international network of community-based groups who are inspired by the notion that a world with less accessible and more expensive fossil fuels could look better than the world we live in today … if the community wants it to be.  Did you know that there are now over 1800 initiatives across the world?  Eight years ago, there was only one!

SLA joined the Transition Network a few years ago, and we’ve achieved and learned a great deal since then.  So has the Transition Network, and it might be useful to try some of the new tools coming out of the network that will help us respond effectively to the twin challenges of climate change and peak oil – challenges that can be very scary, but also very rewarding to meet as a community.

Models such as Relocalisation and Community Resilience building will also be explored.  Which of these might be most useful for us as a community, or shall we come up with our own unique solution?

Come along with your dreams, skills, knowledge and ideas (and any SLA memorabilia, too!) to Kent House at 7pm on Thurs 6 Sep to help us find out.

Hope to see you there.
