It’s now on exhibition until Feb 28th, and you can see a copy at the Town Library or the Council Chambers, or go on to the Council’s website. For some time Armidale Dumaresq Council staff and a review committee have been drafting a new Bicycle Strategy – the first since 2004.
The multi-faceted Strategy proposes a range of actions to improve the bicycle riding environment in Armidale. This includes priorities for new off-road cycleways that are shared with pedestrians, and improving on-road riding with better markings and signs. It also outlines the benefits of increasing bicycle usage and the range of riding purposes within our community.
Sustainable Living Armidale’s Transport Action Group supports Council’s effort to develop an updated Bicycle Strategy, and encourages bicycle riders to read and submit their written, individual comments on the draft.
“Thank you to Council staff and the review committee for their time and energy invested in development of the draft Bicycle Strategy”, said Transport Action Group Convenor Tom Fisher. “We encourage local bicycle riders and other interested road users to read the Strategy and make any suggestions to improve it by 28 February. Please also consider working with the Group on a unified submission.”
Tom Fisher will present a summary of the draft plan to stimulate discussion at the next meeting of the Transport Group on Tuesday 20 December, at 4:30pm at the Southern New England Landcare Community Resource Centre, upstairs at 3/119 Beardy Street, East Mall). All welcome.
