Would you like to be out in the bush doing something practical for the environment? The wildflowers in Snow Gums Bushland Reserve are at their best now so why not come and enjoy helping them survive and expand, along with the interesting little animals that live there?
More hands are needed to carefully remove weeds and repairing steps on a walking track. There are bushcare working bees on Sunday 6th November and 2nd December from 9 till noon, and every Thursday from 4pm till 6 or later in Snow Gums Bushland Reserve at the northern end of Markham St.
On Sunday 6th meet at the bend in Markham St one block above Donnelly St, and expect a free morning tea. Tools are provided but bring gloves and sun protection. The wildflowers On Thursdays volunteers usually work in the middle or north of the reserve meeting at the Snow Gums sign and gate 200m below Erskine St. Phone Kate Boyd on {local land line prefix}2 4026 or {mobile prefix o-four}29724026 if you have any questions or if the weather is dodgy.
If Friday mornings suit you better, you can help look after the bushland in Drummond Park around Apex Lookout. A few bushcare volunteers have been plugging away there regularly for years enabling the native plants to grow back from seed in the soil by removing broom and other exotic shrubs, periwinkle and other vines. Much has been achieved but there are many more weed patches to work on. Meet at the Lookout at 9.30.
You only need an hour to enjoy bushcare close to home but you might prefer to stay for 2 or 3 hours. If you like chatting with friends, why not invite yours along or come and make new friends?
