Interested community members are invited to the first public planning meeting towards the establishment of a Cultural & Sustainability Precinct in and around New England Regional Art Museum (NERAM) and the Aboriginal Cultural Centre and Keeping Place this Saturday, 15 October, 2-5pm.
There have been a growing number of initiatives have been taking place on and around the site ~ regeneration of Black Gully, expansion of the bush tucker trail, gardens for the grounds & reinvigoration of outdoor spaces such as the amphitheatre. One example of part of the Precinct is the proposed community food garden. Armidale Local Food have applied for a temporary licence to commence work using the internal area of the disused tennis courts.
Armidale Dumaresq Council and Crown Lands, who own the site, see the potential of bringing these initiatives together through a Master Planning Process and moving towards the establishment of a significant Cultural & Sustainability Precinct. The community forum is being held to gauge this support and provide an opportunity to start shaping the master plan of the Precinct.
The community forum will take place from 2pm-5pm, Saturday 15 October 2011. Meet below the NERAM carpark between the Aboriginal Cultural Centre & Keeping Place and the art gallery (or in the Mazda room if weather is inclement).
