Business and Sustainability

We have two speakers coming to talk to second year management students here at UNE within a Module titled “Building adaptability and sustainability in organisations” and wanted to open the invitation to the community who may share an interest in these presentations.

Tuesday 11 October 2-3pm in LT4 (W42)– Mr Mark Graham: “Sustainability in Business and Community: How to Bring about Action”

Mark is an  Ecologist and a Councillor of Coffs Harbour City Council since 2008.  Mark is passionate about educating the community about sustainability.  He has worked at all tiers of Government and the Non-Government and Private Sectors and as a Councillor he is working for greater recognition of the values of our environment in decision-making processes.  Mark’s presentation will be conversational with a 20 minute presentation followed by a Q&A.

Tuesday 25 October 2-3pm in LT4 (W42)– Ms Myee Gregory : “Social Enterprise: Building Sustainable Communities”

Myee graduated with a Bachelor of Communication Studies from UNE in 2010 and is currently studying for her Honours in Media and Communication.  In addition to her exemplary academic achievements, Myee achieved the New England Award in 2010 for her outstanding extra-curricular achievements through additional learning and training, professional development and contribution to the University and local communities.  Myee has developed a special interest in  social enterprise through her work with Sarah Taylor in Nepal.  In this presentation, Myee will show a documentary she has filmed and produced in Nepal and discuss the context of social enterprise in creating more sustainable communities.
