Update from New England 100% Renewables

Keep up the input – contact Tony Windsor’s office with your support.

Thank you if you came to our Renewable Energy forum a fortnight ago in Armidale Town Hall and helped to make it such a huge success.

It is increasingly likely that a ‘clean energy fund’ will be created as part of the Carbon Price legislation.  This will be an independent fund used to support new, clean energy sources.

The problem is, the Labor party wants to use this fund to support ‘clean’ technologies like gas and ‘clean’ coal.  We want all of this money to be used for genuinely clean & safe renewables like solar and wind.

We want to ensure that Tony Windsor knows we are still expecting the carbon price package to deliver strong support for renewable energy. Can you ring or email Windsor’s office today and let them know?

We need you to call Tony Windsor’s office to let him know that:

  • You support the proposal to establish a ‘clean energy’ fund with the Carbon Price package
  • However, the fund alone is not sufficient. It must have revenue from carbon price committed to it – at least $2-3 billion each year, as recommended by Prof Garnaut.
  • The government needs to ensure the revenue stream is for renewable energy technology only, not gas and ‘clean’ coal.
  • Ensuring support for renewables is in the carbon price deal will help win popular support so please stand up to the big polluters and make sure you invest in renewable energy.

Just 5-10 phone calls a day from his constituency for the next few days would make a huge difference.  At the moment Tony is taking a strong stance on renewables but is receiving a lot of resistance from some in his electorate.  He needs to know we support him to take a stand and deliver for renewable energy!

Thank you for your time,
Jarra & Hadley
