Join a special SLA energy meeting

Friday, 5 Oct
1:00 amto2:00 am

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5th, 1:00pm Southern New England Landcare Offices, ground floor of Hannah Arcade

The meeting will be devoted to a discussion of what we think should be the key principles in establishing a community owned solar farm. PLEASE JOIN US. We need as many different perspectives as we can garner. Coming to one meeting doesn’t commit you to anything more.

Proposals for solar farms are springing up throughout New England. In many cases, communities are split over the perceived merits and demerits of these farms. If a local group, say in Armidale, Uralla or Guyra, wanted to develop a community owned wind farm, bringing the community along will depend on adopting principles that reflect local conditions and preferences.

This discussion is only a preliminary. But we hope to come up with suggestions that might stimulate community consultation, should such a project be proposed. These principles might also help community members in negotiating with corporate solar and wind farms.

The SLA Energy Group meets the first Friday of each month at 1:00. We try to keep meetings to an hour.
