2018 Sustainable House Tour 8–9 Sept

To be held over the weekend of Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September it’s a great opportunity to look at a variety of local houses (not seen before in the SLA Tour) that all have some sustainable features.

It’s a self-drive tour. You buy a booklet for $25 that has listings, info, opening times and a map, and that gives a carload of you and your friends access to the 10 houses.

The best thing is that you get to talk to the people who live in the houses, share information and opinions about various features.

We’re very appreciative of those who are willing to open their houses for inspection.

This year the houses include an extension to an 1881 cottage; a conversion of a tin shed; an addition to an existing garage; a factory-built transportable house; some recently-built new houses, and an owner-built house staged over 18 years.

There’s mud brick, compressed earth bricks, an innovative integrated roofing system, hydronic floor heating, phase change materials, recycled and upcycled materials, lots of double glazing, solar power, and solar hot water.

Booklets are now available from:

  • Black Jacks Burger Bar, the corner of Barney  & Marsh Streets
  • Armidale Outdoors, 152 Rusden Street
  • The Food Shed 114a Dangar Street

Visit ten houses around Armidale that have a wide variety of sustainable features.
Booklets: $25 per car

as an exhibitor in 2016 and a solo visitor to 2018 house tour, would it be too much to ask for a nil cost tour this year 2018.If so how can it be arranged?

Another very successful display of what Armidale has! We enjoyed our Sunday visit from Tamworth.
One thing I forgot to ask of those who have one …. who supplied their stainless steel rain water tanks?
Please let me know or maybe have a general list of suppliers
