Community push to get renewable energy high on the agenda in New England

Join our community push to get renewable energy high on the agenda in the upcoming battle for New England!

Are you worried about coal seam gas and mining in our region? Are you excited about the opportunities presented by solar, wind and other renewable sources of energy? Do you want to make your voice heard and really focus the attention of our political leaders on these issues?

With only 3.5 months to go until the Federal Election it is time to put our region’s energy future on the agenda. That’s why we’re launching a new community-run initiative in the New England electorate over the next few months – New England Energy Futures <> .

There are lots of local groups and individuals already working to promote renewables and to stop mining and CSG projects – they are building community solar projects, locking the gate and installing solar like there’s no tomorrow!

The energy future for our region may be a long-term issue, but this upcoming election gives us a real chance to make a difference. By working together, we can make sure that all candidates – especially front runners Tony Windsor and Barnaby Joyce – are clear that we want a renewable energy future, and that whoever is elected will represent the community interest.

We have exciting plans for getting renewable energy high on the radar of the voting public  – these include orchestrating hundreds of conversations with our neighbours, running local events and inviting the major candidates to answer our questions about New England’s energy future at a major public forum just 2 weeks before the election in late August.

But, it will only work if we all get together!
