Help needed: 100% Renewables doorknock

SLA’s Armidale 100% Renewable Energy group

needs more hands on deck! And quick!

This weekend over 110 local groups across Australia, including us, will participate in the National Door knock day for the 100% Renewable Energy Campaign.  Are you keen to help?  Even a few hours is helpful.

  • Saturday 28 May 9.30am-1.30pm (residential areas of Armidale)
  • Sunday 29 May 9am-12noon (Armidale Markets, at SLA stall)
  • We will also be door knocking on June 4, 5, 11 & 18.

If you would like to help, or ask questions, please contact SLA

Door knocking brief:
Door knocking involves going to people’s houses and  asking them if they would like to participate in the survey.  If so, the volunteer then asks a series of 7 set questions (see attached) and records the answers on the answer sheet (see attached).  A brief guide to door knocking is also attached.  People in Armidale are generally very polite, even if they do not want to participate.  It is actually very exciting to see how many people are so supportive!  The intention of the survey is to hear what people think about renewable energy, it isn’t about trying to convince people of anything.  You do not need to know a lot about renewable energy to participate.  If a resident wants more information, offer to email or post them some. You won’t be alone. We work in pairs.

If you are willing to help, we’ll send you the survey, the answer sheets and directions both about where to meet and a brief guide to door knocking.
Background  on 100% Renewable Energy Armidale:
The 100% Renewables survey is playing a key role in gauging community attitudes towards renewable energy.  The collection of over 100 surveys in Armidale so far has indicated that people are overwhelmingly supportive and want the government to be doing more to support renewable energy.  Survey responses will be collated and given to Tony Windsor as part of a wider campaign to encourage him to push for a strong Carbon Price policy that includes key investment into renewable energy.  We believe renewable energy will bring positive benefits for the New England region and that a commitment to investment in renewable energy will be the lynch pin for community support for a Carbon Price policy.
