High Court win over Acland coal mine

Fantastic news! On February 3rd — the farming community of Acland in south-east Queensland have won an important victory in the High Court over a controversial coal mine expansion.

After years of legal battles our clients, the Oakey Coal Action Alliance (OCAA), have won the right to a fresh trial. This means they have chance to save some of Queensland’s best farming land from New Acland Coal’s damaging mine expansion.

Take a moment to share this important win and stand with the Acland community in their crucial High Court victory over destructive coal mining.

There is a reason why the local community is fighting this mine tooth and nail.

If this coal mine expansion goes ahead, it would surround the rural town of Acland.

It would impact some of Queensland’s richest farmlands, and increase the air and noise pollution burden on local people.

That’s why seven years ago more than 60 local people came together as the Oakey Coal Action Alliance to fight for their future.

Despite a huge legal team from New Acland Coal and years of up and down legal battles, the local community has never given up. We are so proud to represent this community in court and be a part of this crucial case.

This is our first ever High Court appeal and a major moment for EDO and our clients.
