3rd National EcoArts Australis Conference: Using the Visual and Performing Arts to Encourage Pro-environmental Behaviour

Welcome to the first mail out for the third national EcoArts Australis Conference! We are looking forward to hosting a wonderful and inspiring event focusing on exploring sustainability through the arts.
What can you expect from the 2019 Conference:

Key themes:
- using the arts to change habits and behaviours;
- using the arts in environmental education
- using the arts to draw attention to particular environmental issues;
- using the arts to celebrate the natural environment and human relationship with it
Areas of focus:
Including, (but not limited to):
- fostering the eco-city (urban planning/active transport)
- mitigating climate change
- reducing waste
- conserving/re-establishing native vegetation
- community festivals and community arts
- public and performance art
- indigenous art
- science/art collaborations
- urban trees
Ways to participate
You will be able to participate in a variety of ways:
- Making an oral presentation
- Presenting information in the Pechu Kucha format (Speed presentations (20 slides, 6 seconds per slide).
- Performing your material in an Eco[ei]steddfod (3 minute eco-art performances (music, theatre and/or dance)
- Running a workshop session
- Presenting your work as a poster, film or visual artwork
- Participating in the creation of an ecoart work
- Participating in numerous networking opportunities as an audience member
Key dates
- 20 October 2018: Call for abstracts commences
- 20 October 2018: Early bird registrations commences
- 15 February: Call for abstracts closes
- 28 February: Early bird registrations closes
- 1 March: Draft program available
- 1 April: Program finalised
- 20 April: Presentation provided to be included in proceedings
- 26 May: Field trip and welcoming reception
- 27-28 May: Conference
