Leard Forest Bird Surveys, Sat 28th-Sunday 29th May 2016

Saturday, 28 MaytoSunday, 29 May

DSCN2138You are cordially invited  to  the visit one of the state’s biodiversity hotspots under threat from coal mining, the Leard Forest , NSW, situated 2 hours west of Tamworth to take part in the 4th community led bird survey of this endangered woodland.

Many are aware of the handover of this critically endangered white box grassy woodland to coal mining, thanks to the extraordinary influence of the mining industry.  If you thought things couldn’t get worse, they prepared for a shock. We now have evidence that Whitehaven coal is exploring the biodiversity offsets that it promised to acquire and preserve in perpetuity, for coal.

Come and bear witness, and learn about this vanishing Eco system.

All knowledge levels welcome, from experienced to beginners.
