Dear Friends,
It’s been a busy time planning for the 2016 Ecoarts Australis Conference, and we have some important updates for you.
Keynote speakers
The program is shaping up really well with a great range of speakers. Confirmed keynotes include:
- Dr Nalini Nadkarni (Professor of Biology at University of Utah, USA ) and choreographer Jodi Lomask (Artistic Director of Capacitor) will speak on linking art and science, and in particular rainforest ecology and contemporary dance.
- Rachel Kent (curator from the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney who curated the exhibition In the Balance in 2010 will speak of visual artists in Australia who link their work with the environmental).
- Lisa Woynarski (Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London, UK) – will provide an overview of environmental theatre in UK and Europe.
- Guy Abrahams (CEO – CLIMARTE) – will speak of harnessing the power of the arts to inform, engage and inspire action on climate change.
We have strong contributions about the arts and environmental education, the interface between science and art, connecting people to nature through the arts, some philosophical and historical papers and some about challenging people through the arts, as well as affirming beliefs.
Also included into the program, we have some excellent workshop sessions.
Call for Abstracts
The deadline for submission of abstracts has been extended to Monday 30 November.
Presenting at the Ecoarts Conference is a great way to showcase your research or your arts or environmental practice, and we encourage you to consider submitting an abstract for one of the many ways we have available to present (oral or poster presentation, performance, workshop or visual art). We also offer the opportunity of 6-minute ‘speed talks’, which are a great opportunity to present work “in progress”, or to gain valuable experience if you have not presented at a conference before.
Conference Registration
The earlybird discount has been extended for all registrations received prior to 30 November.
Sponsorship and Exhibition
The conference relies on the generous support of sponsors and exhibitors to subsidise registration fees, and ensure a professional experience for all attendees. If you are interested in sponsoring the conference, or exhibiting your products, please contact the Conference Secretariat. We are always happy to discuss options to tailor packages that will meet your specific needs.
Follow us on Twitter
Now that we have refreshed our branding, we’ve jumped on board into the social world starting off with Twitter! This will also become another avenue to keep conference delegates informed about major announcements.
Please help us spread the word about our upcoming conference by mentioning or following us @EcoArts_Au
When tweeting, we encourage the use of #ecoartsau2016 in the lead up to, and during the conference.
