Will Uralla be the first town in Australia to become carbon neutral? A study is underway to ask just this question.
The Zero Net Energy Town (ZNET) project will look at how residents, business and industry can reduce carbon emissions through energy efficiency, renewable and alternative energy projects. This will be presented as a business case examining the financial feasibility and technical possibilities involved in switching to alternative and renewable energy sources.
Adam Blakester and Sandra Edey will be speaking about ZNET. Adam will give insight about the “nuts and bolts” and historical background while Sandra will talk about the community involvement process.
The SLA monthly forums are the first Thursday of each month. The Uralla Z-NET project forum is on Thursday 4th June, 7pm at Kent House, opposite Central Park. Gold coin donation appreciated.
PS We’ll be presenting a brief over-view of the new SLA action group – Armidale Road to Paris project.
