Dr. Andrew Huggett is a consultant ornithologist and ecologist who runs his own small consultancy (InSight Ecology) from Coffs Harbour, NSW. He has a PhD in the ecology and conservation of forest birds from the University of New England.
He has previously worked for biodiversity conservation and land management agencies in NSW and WA.
Andrew works direct with farmers, landcare groups and government agencies to increase their knowledge and understanding of woodland birds and help protect and restore their habitat. This has seen him work in landscapes as diverse as the New England Tableland, urban/peri-urban Sydney and the Western Australian wheatbelt. He has presented the results of this work at a range of science and NRM fora across Australia and in South America.
Andrew specialises in communicating how best to protect our precious bush gems and re-connect their habitat to people on the land and in the cities. Much of his work is about listening, understanding issues and concerns, and trying to work out practical science-based solutions to the age-old conservation-production challenge.
