Water at GardenHi everyone the garden is coming along well, although more rain would be welcome! Thanks to the wonderful TAS boys and their teachers we now have our chook house, and the chook run is coming together. Terry has been working hard, first in laying the fox-proof pavers for the floor, and then in setting up the posts and gate (all donated by Marty Lawler – many thanks, Marty) and getting ready for putting up chicken wire (donated by Andrew Parker – thank you Andrew)

The plants in the mounds are all coming along and we are beginning to harvest the first zucchini and cucumbers. A little while ago we harvested lots of huge onions, white and brown, and quite a bit of garlic. The corn plants are looking tall and healthy and the first tomatoes and chillies are beginning to ripen. (As usual the coriander has bolted straight off to seed, but we are beginning to get accustomed to that!). We have lots of silverbeet and kale, rhubarb and climbing beans and we’ve recently set up two mint beds with spearmint, common mint and native peppermint.

It would be a good idea to start having some meetings again, to touch base with each other and talk about what is working well and what isn’t, and where we should head from here. The first meeting will be at 12 midday on Saturday 26th January for anyone who can make it, and then we can discuss when subsequent meetings should be held. It seems a good idea to hold the meetings over at the garden if the weather permits (we can go over to Neram Harvest if it’s raining). We’ll need to bring something to sit on, either a folding chair or a rug. If anyone has a particular topic they want discussed, send me an email and I’ll put it on the agenda cheers Jo
