Life Cycle Armidale promoted all types of cycling in beautiful spring weather on Sunday 16 September 2012.

As part of NSW Bike Week, the event brought bike riders of all ages and abilities together at Armidale’s picturesque Creeklands.

An excellent display about the benefits and fun of bicycle riding was held at Curtis Park, coinciding with the Farmers Market. Sport UNE showed how effective their electric bikes are for personal transport. New England Mountain Biking Club promoted the fantastic fun and fitness opportunities for local off-road racing.

Council bike route maps and all manner of bicycle information was also handed out from the display.

Later, over 70 riders with bicycles of all types – some with trailers, some with training wheels and even some two-seaters – took to the Creeklands Cycleway for a fun social ride.

The day culminated in a draw of prizes donated by Armidale Outdoors including a brand new bicycle.

Thanks to NSW Government Roads & Maritime Services for funding event publicity.

Thanks to Armidale Dumaresq Council and local businesses for assisting with publicity.

Thanks Armidale Outdoors for providing the excellent prizes.

Thanks to all Transport Action Group volunteers who invested so much of their own time to organise and operate the event, especially Jock Coventry, Bar Finch, Tom Fisher, Tom Livanos, Iain Mackay, Terry Manley, Dorothy Robinson and Cindy Schneider.
