Tuesday Forum – July 2010

Tuesday Forum at Kent House, 141 Faulkner St. Opposite Central Park.
All welcome.

We will be presenting some key messages from last Sunday’s Awakening the Dreamer Symposium (see the press release below) followed by the AGM. The Symposium reinforces the message that, although the current situation is extremely serious, there are a truly amazing number of groups out there who are working, like SLA, to create a very different future, and challenges us to all to translate our good intentions into action.
Hoping to see you there on Tuesday night.

Press release
SLA Tuesday Forum 6th July 2010

The next Tuesday Forum in the popular monthly series organised by SLA (Sustainable Living Armidale), will present some insights from the recent Awakening the Dreamer: Changing the Dream Symposium held in Armidale last Sunday.

The Symposium is designed to awaken and inspire people to take action in pursuit of the vision of a socially just, peaceful and sustainable human presence on the planet, connecting them with a powerful global movement for change.
It explores the core values and ways of seeing the world that are deeply embedded in the current world view with its culture of consumption and acquisition – the Dream of the Modern World – which is systematically devouring the planet, and challenges us to join with millions of individuals and organisations around the world who are already working in pursuit of an alternative vision of environmental sustainability, spiritual fulfilment and social justice.
It exposes the assumptions that underlie the way we currently see the world and our place in it and points the way to a new vision, made possible by the merging of the technological skill of the modern world with the earth-honouring wisdom of indigenous cultures.
The SLA Tuesday Forum will seek to present some of the key messages from this symposium and offer an opportunity for discussion of some of the questions raised.

Following upon this presentation SLA will hold its Annual General Meeting.
SLA continues to bring to the community a wide range of sustainability issues in its Tuesday Forums, as well as maintaining a regular information stall at the Mall Markets.
The ‘Awakening the Dreamer Symposium highlights’ will be on Tuesday 6th July at 7pm at Kent House, Faulkner Street, opposite Central Park. Light refreshments to follow. All welcome, gold coin donation appreciated.
