CANCELLED: Get on Ya Bikes for NSW Bike Week 2016!

CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN. The chilliest days are behind us, the sun is shining, and the cycleway is calling. What better time to to dust off the helmet, pump up the tyres, throw some lube on the ol’ chain and get pedalling!

Join us for the Pedal To Piney starting at 11am Sunday 25 September from Curtis Park. This is a laid-back social ride suitable for all ages and abilities, and everyone that completes it goes in the draw to win a mountain bike worth over $400!

NSW Bike Week starts Saturday 17 September and Sustainable Living Armidale and Transport for New South Wales have again partnered to organise Pedal To Piney and the fourth-annual Commute Challenge.

Commute Challenge is from September 17-23. Riders log their bicycle trips at to work, school, or around town and to compete for the coveted Golden Wheel Trophy. Go to SLArmidale.org/bikeweek to register and log your trips.

“Commute Challenge is a friendly community-wide competition where individuals and teams compete with each other to ditch the car and cycle the most kilometres on two wheels for purposeful trips. During Bike Week, this provides a great reminder of how easy, enjoyable and thrifty getting around town by bicycle can be,” says Tom Fisher of Sustainable Living Armidale.

Following the Commute Challenge, the Pedal to Piney ride will start 11am Sunday September 25 from Curtis Park. “This is a fun, easy-going social ride out to the Pine Forest. It’s along the cycleway all the way, so good for riders of all abilities, and you’re welcome join for a shorter ride if you like.

“This is the third Pedal to Piney and we’ve had a great turn out in the past of families and riders of all ages. Bring your bike and a picnic because we’re expecting another top day.” said Mr Fisher.

All riders that make it out to the Pine Forest will be in the draw for a mountain bike worth over $400 from the Armidale Bicycle Centre.
