At 5pm, Saturday 18 October 2014, a gathering will be taking place at The Armidale Club, 91 Beardy Street, Armidale. This will be the local event for a national day of climate action known as Divestment Day.
Divestment Day is a communication exercise between the general community and the major fossil fuel companies, via the banking system. As is now evident and well-known around the world, climate change is the most pressing issue to have faced human civilisation. It began taking effect at 350 parts per million carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Earlier this year, we passed 400 parts per million – and rising.
In order to provide a mechanism by which funding for energy supply may be redirected away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energy technology, this national campaign has been devised. Further information is available at www.350.org.au and www.marketforces.org.au You are invited to find out more about this critical campaign at these websites.
One and all are invited to attend the celebration on the 18th, in conjuction with events being held around the country on the same day.
Dear all,
If anyone has any questions in relation to this event, please let me know at tom.369@hotmail.com I am hosting it. Everyone is welcome.
Best regards,
Tom Livanos.
