DESCRIPTION:Come and celebrate the shortest day of the year under Oralla’s starry sky! \nLantern Parade ~ Bonfire ~ Live Music ~ Naked Eye Stargazing ~ Delicious Food Stalls \nPresented by Uralla Arts Supported by Uralla Shire Council \nProgramme \n\n4:30 pm — Smoking Ceremony\n\nOngoing Activity: Releasing the Old And Welcoming in The New\n\n\n5:00 pm — Lantern Muster\n5:30 pm — Lantern Parade\n6:00 pm\n\nWelcome to Country\nLighting of The Bonfire\nFirst Nations Astronomer\nNaked Eye Stargazing\nLive Music by Rockybottom Girls\n\n\n\nFor more info visit facebook.com/urallaarts \nThis event is weather dependent \nUralla Arts is in the final stages of planning the schedule for this exciting new event on Saturday\, 21st June. \nWe are particularly enthusiastic about embracing the Constellations of the South Sculpture Park at The Glen\, something we are proud to have initiated so many years ago and have now completed with the assistance of Council. \n\n“It seems entirely fitting to be hosting a celebration of the Winter Solstice in this space which also celebrates the cycles of the night sky”\, Uralla Arts President Maxine Ross said. \n\nThe schedule includes many exciting and interesting events\, with something for everyone in the community. \nGates open at 4.30pm with a variety of food stalls offering tasty delights. \nThe Uralla lantern parade will kick off soon after dark. We always welcome helpers to carry lanterns\, so stop in to the Lantern Muster point as you enter The Glen. \nEveryone will be invited to write their hopes and aspirations for the future on cloth strips and tie them to a string that will be wound around a giant bonfire ? a symbol of optimism and renewal as we mark the shortest day. \nKamilaroi man Len Waters will be giving a guided tour of the southern galaxies from an Aboriginal perspective. \nThe enchanting night will be rounded out with live music from the Rocky Bottom Girls. \nSo don’t forget to brush off your old lanterns\, spruce them up and get along and be a part of celebrating the longest night of the year and the coming of the light. \nAndrew Parker
