SUMMARY:Nocturnal Ecology Night at Waldorf Primary School
DESCRIPTION:We are hosting an nocturnal ecology night with a focus on microbats\, which members of your team and community may be interested in. It is this Wednesday at 6:30pm. Details are below for sharing with networks. Poster attached. \nWhat: Nocturnal Ecology Night. Hosted by Dr Heidi Kolkert – Fauna Ecologist\, specialising in threatened species management.\nWhen: Wednesday 26 November\, 6:30pm (short talk followed by wildlife spotting) \nWhere: The Armidale Waldorf Primary School\nPlease bring: Warm layers and a curiosity for ecology and microbats! \nRSVP: Click Here to RSVP (not required but appreciated for planning and so we can keep you updated of any changes due to weather) \nWe are fortunate to learn from our bushland campus and integrate these learnings into our classroom activities. But many of the creatures who share this environment are only active after dark. To help broaden our understanding of the ecosystem we are part of\, we invite all families and interested community members to join us for this special evening. \nThe evening will be hosted by UNE researcher Dr Heidi Kolkert\, who has been working with TAWS to study the endangered microbat colonies found on our campus. Through her research\, we’ve come to appreciate the richness of our local nocturnal ecology and the presence of several remarkable species\, including the Eastern False Pipistrelle (endangered) and the distinctive Gould’s Wattled Bat. We warmly invite you to come along\, hear Dr Kolkert’s latest insights\, and enjoy an engaging evening discovering the nocturnal ecology and microbat colony thriving at TAWS.
